Jamaat seeks DMP permission to hold rally on Oct 28

Jamaat-e-Islami today sought police permission to hold a rally at Shapla Chattar in the capital's Motijheel area on October 28, to press home its demands including restoration of the caretaker government.

The party today wrote to the DMP commissioner, seeking assistance from the police in holding the programme.

The other demands include the release of its Amir Dr Shafiqur Rahman and other alem ulemas, and control of prices of the daily essentials.

On October 18, BNP announced to hold a rally in the capital on October 28 to press home its one-point demand -- resignation of the government and general election under a non-party neutral administration.

Awami League also announced to hold a rally at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque area on the same day.
