Home Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said the border situation has returned to normal since India halted the construction of barbed wire fencing.

"There is no tension at the border now," he said while replying to a query after coming out from a views-exchange meeting with the divisional officials in Mymensingh.

The home adviser said a director general-level meeting of the two frontier forces of Bangladesh and India will be held next month to discuss unresolved issues.

"Those will be discussed at the BGB-BSF DG-level meeting," he said.

Jahangir said some unfair agreements signed between the two countries have created problems in the bilateral ties and a discussion will be held to resolve the issues.

A letter to this end has already been sent to India, he added.
