President, PM shocked at loss of lives in quake in China
President Shahabuddin Ahmed yesterday expressed his deep shock at the loss of lives and property by an earthquake in the northern region of China, reports BSS.
In a message of condolence to the Chinese President Jiang Zemin, President Shahabuddin said that he had learnt with shock and great sadness the loss of valuable lives and property in earthquake that struck some northern districts in China on January 10.
The President on behalf of the people of Bangladesh conveyed the deepest condolences and sympathy to the earthquake afflicted people of China and expressed the confidence that the heroic people of China would overcome these difficulties with courage and fortitude.
In a report message Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Sunday night expressed deep shock at the loss of life and property at the powerful earthquake in China's far north.
In a message the Prime Minister prayed for salvation of the departed souls and expressed deep sympathy for the members of the bereaved families.
She also wished early recovery of the wounded.
