Russian Dy FM meets PM
Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation Grigory B Karasin yesterday called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office, reports UNB.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister spoke highly about the existing friendly and cordial relations between the two countries and hoped that it would be consolidated further.
Sheikh Hasina stressed the need for strengthening economic and bilateral relations with the countries of the region.
Referring to the role of LDCs in improving the living standards of the people, Sheikh Hasina said, 'we should not depend on others for ever. Rather we're trying to make our economies self-reliant."While giving a resume of her governments efforts to improve the lot of the people, she listed a number of measures aimed at poverty alleviation to fulfil the dream of the Father of the National Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The Russian Deputy Minister lauded the role of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for promoting mutual understanding and cooperation among the countries of the region.
Another UNB report adds: The visiting Deputy Foreign Minister of Russian Federation, Grigory G Karasin, called on Prime Minister's Parliamentary Affairs Advisor Suranjit Sengupta at his Sangsad Bhaban office yesterday.
The two leaders discussed various issues of common interest with special emphasis on the functioning of parliaments of the two countries.
