A grand gesture
The great Bangladeshi wedding season is here again. It is an exciting time of the year when everyone's social calendar is abuzz with invitations to weddings and countless events related to each of those. Amidst such chaos, one aspect that is crucial to keep in mind is the all-important wedding gift.
A gift is not only a kind gesture; it is a reflection of one's taste, personality and is a way to express one's appreciation for the wonderful hospitality enjoyed during a wedding. It also is a way to let the newly weds know how much one values their union.
So without further ado, let's look at some ideas that might come in handy when shopping for wedding presents, at different price points.
A SHOESTRING BUDGET (TK 5000 OR LESS)
A beautiful silver-plated or crystal photo frame that will hold wedding pictures is likely to be cherished for a long time. A pair of silver or gold-plated candle stands, serving spoons or a serving dish also makes a beautiful, stylish present that is timeless.
Crystal vases maybe commonplace but they do come in handy for newlyweds who like to put out fresh flowers. A set of perfumes for the newly weds is also a nice present. Silk bedspreads with matching pillowcases, leather jewellery and watch cases are also great options.
A COMFORT ZONE (TK 5000 AND ABOVE)
A small but special piece of jewellery for the bride always makes for a great wedding gift. A set of South Sea pearl earrings with matching strings for a necklace can be perfect for someone who appreciates the simple elegance of pearls. Alternately, a pair of small gold earrings that can be worn on a daily basis is also a good option.
Interesting ceramic vases, wall hangings and table linens in silk or satin complete with placemats, runners and napkins too can be wonderful wedding presents.
MID-RANGE (TK 10,000 AND ABOVE)
Watches are something everyone needs and likes. A stylish, smart watch for either the bride or the groom is a gift that is likely to keep on giving by keeping time for them. Another option is a matching set of his and her watches that is not only thoughtful but incredibly romantic!
A slightly offbeat gift could be a pair of matching decorative table lamps for the newlyweds' nightstands in ceramic, porcelain or crystal.
THE BIG LEAGUE (TK 20,000 AND ABOVE)
Jewellery, again is a good option for a wedding present as it stands the test of time. A dainty set of earrings and pendant, in gold or white gold, make a beautiful gift for a newlywed bride who needs delicate jewellery. Another thing that most newlyweds need is a set of fancy dinnerware for entertaining special guests. At this price point bone china sets with beautiful, delicate patterns are perfect. For a dose of opulence, gold-plated dinnerware sets are an elegant option.
HIGH-END (TK 30,000 AND ABOVE)
At this price point, all of the options listed above are possible. But if you want to stand out from the crowd with practical gifts, invest in pair of air tickets that will surprise and thrill the newly weds! It could be tickets to local destinations, or other nearby areas like Nepal, Kolkata or Bangkok, where travel would not be a hassle, rather a quick and fun getaway. Even if the newlyweds have their honeymoon itinerary planned out, it could be nice little surprise for them.
