Bollywood actress Reema Lagoo passes away
Bollywood actress Reema Lagoo, who essayed the role of on-screen mother of super stars Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit, died yesterday of heart attack in a hospital in Mumbai.
The 58-year-old actress complained of chest pain late on Wednesday night and she was rushed to the hospital where she breathed her last, her son-in-law Vinay Waikul told the media.
Reema Lagoo, who started her career in Hindi and Marathi films in late 1970s and early 80s, was best known for playing the on-screen mother to protagonists in hit films like “Maine Pyar Kiya”, “Hum Aapke Hain Koun”, “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” and “Hum Saath-Saath Hain”. She also featured in TV shows like “Tu Tu Main Main” and “Shriman Shrimati”.
She carved a place for herself by playing the role of mother to actors Sharukh, Salman, Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Madhuri Dixit, Juhi Chawla, Kajol and Saif Ali Khan. She was last seen in Mahesh Bhatt's television serial “Naamkaran.”
Reema Lagoo gained prominence with Mansoor Khan's 1988 romantic film “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak” in which she played Juhi Chawla's mother. She also shared screen space with Salman in Karan Johar's 1998 directorial debut “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai”.
