34 cops honoured
Bangladesh government today honoured 34 retired police officials who built the first armed resistance against the Pakistan occupation forces on March 25 in 1971.
The police officials first fought and built strong resistance against the Pakistani army at Rajarbagh Police Lines on the Black Night of March 25.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal was present at the award-giving ceremony at Ramna Police Conversion Centre in Dhaka as chief guest while Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque was in the chair.
Before honouring 34 policemen, the government also gave recognition to 44 other policemen who died fighting at the police lines during the first armed resistance.
