Bangladesh ace pacer and the nation’s heartthrob Mashrafe Bin Mortaza took to social media and thanked the Argentine players for letting his idol Diego Maradona sleep peacefully for a night as the Albiceleste confirmed their place in the second round of the World Cup after a dramatic 2-1 win against Nigeria on Tuesday.
Mashrafe, who is an Argentine fan, watched the Argentina-Nigeria thriller with his son Sahel and daughter Humaira at home. He posted a picture with his children on his official Facebook account, all of them wearing the Argentina jersey.
“They are for Messi and I am for Maradona. Generation… nothing to do. But everyone is supporting Argentina,” Mashrafe wrote.
Mashrafe is particularly thankful to the Argentine players for letting his hero Maradona sleep peacefully for a night as he wrote: “I cannot contain my emotions whenever I watch this one player [Maradona]. I do not know why. Even when he is not playing it doesn’t feel like he is not playing. Thanks to the Argentine players for letting my hero sleep peacefully today. Boss, you have as much as you want today, I have never seen a player like you and I do not want to see in future.”
He ended his post with the number 86, referring to Maradona almost single-handedly winning the 1986 World Cup for the Albiceleste.
