Former Brazil star forward Edmundo praised Neymar and said that the 26-year old ace forward is a worthy inheritor of the prestigious no. 10 shirt for Brazil after his impressing performance against Serbia in Brazil’s last group stage match of the World Cup.
Brazil progressed to the second round of the tournament as the Group E champions after their 2-0 win over Serbia. Paulinho opened the scoring for the Selecao in the 36th minute of the game, courtesy of a sublime through ball from Coutinho that found its way to the 29-year old among several Serbian players. Thiago Silva netted the second goal to confirm Selecao’s smooth path to the next round as he headed the ball past the Serbian Keeper from a Neymar corner.
Neymar who was criticized earlier for his underwhelming performances against Switzerland and Costa Rica, had put in a dazzling performance in the game against Serbia as his trickery with the ball and dribbling mesmerized the Brazil fans all around the world.

According to reports from TOI, even Philippe Coutinho called Neymar “one of the very best players in the world and a reference point for the Selecao”.
Brazil will face Mexico in the knockout phase of the tournament on Monday at the Samara Arena.
