Attic unveils music video for Echoes in Your Attic

On August 31, 2018 "Attic: INTO the VOID" took place at Jatra Biroti, marking their second full-house show at the venue. This show was special for those who attended because the premise of the show was the unveiling of the upcoming music video for their unreleased single, "Echoes in Your Attic". 

For those unfamiliar with Attic still, they are the newest trailblazers in the current indie-rock scene of Dhaka. The band comprising of Shadab Shams on lead vocals, Tauhid Shamsuddin on lead guitars, Gourav Nandy on the synthesiser and keyboard, Sharar Shayor on backing vocals and bass guitar, and Sayem Chowdhury on the drums have been together for almost seven years. This will be their fourth single and their first-ever music video, released on online platforms on September 3, 2018.

They played a total of 17 songs with nine of them being originals. From the get go, Shadab Shams not only showed off his exemplary talents as a vocalist but as a true rock n' roll orchestrator, with his delectable dance moves being the main focus of Attic's performance. They opened their set with an original song, "Time Machine", to which the audience devotedly clapped and snapped their fingers to the rhythm throughout the chorus.

Next they performed another original, "Indigo Straits" followed by a cover of Kavinsky's "Nightcall", through all of which I couldn't help but move to the slick bass-line and the funky synthetic sounds along with the rest of the crowd.

Soon after a short break they ran through three covers ending with their staple cover of "The Modern Age" by The Strokes, Attic's indie-rock godfathers. They played three more originals before finally closing off their set with a cover of The Killer's "Somebody Told Me" and the post rock-esque original titled "Survival".

It was then time for the curtains to come down but not before the big reveal of their upcoming music video for "Echoes in Your Attic". The audience were awestruck by not only the music but the cinematography and the execution of what could possibly be one of the best music videos we've yet to see anyone produce in Bangladesh.

I got a chance to talk to the band and ask them about how they felt about the reception. "The crowd loved the video and we loved the response, just the way we were expecting things to go," said Gourav Nandy.
