JU geography dept students stage demo protesting teachers’ class boycott

Students at geography and environmental science department of Jahangirnagar University have been staging a demonstration in front of the department protesting class boycott by teachers.

No classes or examinations of the department were held as most of the teachers have refrained from performing academic duties for the last 14 consecutive days bringing allegation that the university chairman did not call any academic council meeting since he took charge on August 26.

Today, a hundred students of the department padlocked the main entrance to the department keeping all the teachers inside, demanding regular classes and examinations, our campus correspondent reports.

They were chanting slogans protesting the suspension of academic activities till last reported at 1:00pm.
