Journalists covering the 11th general election will not be able to use motorbikes on the election day.
The Election Commission has issued a guideline on what journalists can or cannot do while covering the election slated for December 30.
No sticker will be issued from the Election Commission for using motorcycle on the voting day, says the guideline signed by EC joint secretary SM Asaduzzaman.
However, journalists were allowed to use motorcycle in the previous national elections.
According to the guideline, journalists and election observers can travel on vehicles with the stickers provided by the EC.
Here are the key points of the guideline on what journalists can or cannot:

- They can collect information and take photo and video from the poling centres by informing the presiding officers but will abstain from taking photos and videos of the secret room at voting booth.
- Live telecast from polling booth is restricted.
- Media can telecast live from a safe distance of voting booths on condition that they will not create any trouble in casting vote.
- Journalists will be able to watch vote counting but cannot telecast live.
- No one will be allowed to broadcast election activities through social media including Facebook.
- Newsmen must abide by directives of presiding officers and cannot make any kind of interference on the activities of the election officials.
