Two people were shot dead under broad daylight in an election camp of an indigenous candidate of United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) in Khagrachhari today.
Those killed were identified as Chikko Chakma, 24, and construction worker Md Rana, 35, our local correspondent reports quoting police and local sources.
The attack took place on an election camp of Nutan Kumar Chakma, an independent candidate from UPDF, in Panchhari upazila’s Pujgang area. The office was torched down.
Nurul Alam, officer-in-charge of Panchchari Police Station, has confirmed of the incident and casualties to The Daily Star. Police and security forces were dispatched to the spot.
The assailants were yet to be identified.
