Beware of fake army men seeking money: ISPR

The military today advised to remain alert against frauds who are identifying themselves as army officers and seeking financial assistance from candidates.

Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) released a press release in this regard stating clearly that there are no ties between them and the armed forces.

“A fraud gang identifying themselves as army officers deputed on the election field are trying to obtain personal gains using the army’s reputation,” it said.

Some dishonest persons identify themselves as army officers are demanding money from election contenders over phone, promising them to provide different facilities, said the press release signed by ISPR Assistant Director Mohammad Reza-ul-Karim Shammi.

The law enforcers have arrested some of the fake army officers, the release added.

The ISPR has also requested all concerned to remain cautious against them.

ARMY PATROLLING REGULARLY

Army conducted a total of 1,039 patrols in their designated areas of 389 upazilas in 62 districts today as part of their duties for the December 30 national election.

With this, the force has so far carried out 2,475 patrols since its deployment on December 24, said an Inter Services Public Relation press release.

Alongside regular patrol, army members are maintaining communication with law enforcement agencies of their respective areas and remain ready to provide overall assistance, if necessary, the release said.

The armed forces were deployed in the field for 10 days from Monday to help the Election Commission and civil administration ensure the law and order before, during and after the 11th national election slated for December 30.
