Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has congratulated Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali on his victory in the 11th National Parliament Election.

Sushma Swaraj called her Bangladesh counterpart yesterday to congratulate him on his election victory, according to a Bangladesh foreign ministry press release.

During the conversation, she stated that the Indian government would continue to cooperate with Bangladesh as a close neighbour.

She also expressed hope to work together with Foreign Minister Mahmood Ali in future, according to the press release.

It may be mentioned that both the ministers co-chair the Joint Consultative Commission (JCC) to coordinate sectoral collaboration between the two countries.

Foreign Minister Mahmood Ali also thanked Sushma Swaraj for the call and expressed hope that both the countries would continue to work together for the benefit of the people.
