'Address mismanagment at Kamalapur station in 30 days'
Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan today warned of stern action if Kamalapur Railway Station’s mismanagement and hygiene issues are not addressed by the next one month.
“I found instances of mismanagement and a lack of cleanliness and security measures at the railway station, the railway minister said.
“I gave instructions to the authorities. Will visit the station on April 5 again and if I find no change by then, I will go for tough action,” he said while talking to reporters at the railway station.
Meanwhile, the minister also said it is mandatory for passengers to show national identity (NID) cards while purchasing train tickets for Sonar Bangla Express, a direct inter-city train service on Dhaka-Chattogram route as part of a pilot project to check scalping.
He said Sonar Bangla Express, a direct inter-city train service on Dhaka-Chattogram route, has made NID mandatory for passengers as part of a pilot project to check sale of tickets on the black market.
The NID process will be made mandatory for passengers to get tickets of all trains gradually in a bid to check black market sale for train tickets, he added.
The minister went to the Kamalapur Railway Station around 10:30am and visited every nook and corner of the station until 12:00 noon.
