A freak accident gave Bangladesh a minor scare during practice at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton today. Off-spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz was struck on the side of his head by a stray ball while speaking to a reporter in the stands behind what would be wide long on in a match situation.
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, team management informed that Mehedi did not appear to be seriously hurt, but were awaiting a report from physio Thihan Chandramohan.

It was not a direct blow from a six hit by Sabbir Rahman, batting in one of the nets erected at the centre wicket of the large ground. Mehedi had successfully avoided the ball when he heard warning shouts, but the ball had rebounded back towards him after landing on the seats to the rear and struck him on the right side of the head.
Mehedi held the impacted area for a few seconds before sitting down, and was soon engulfed by rushing Bangladesh and venue medical personnel. He was soon walking towards the dressing room.
"He got hit on the side of the head. He was giving an interview and the ball came flying out of the nets," said coach Steve Rhodes shortly after the incident. "He seems okay. The physio was checking him over. I will get the report. I'd imagine the physio will check for concussion."
By the time the team were getting on the bus back to their hotel, Mehedi seemed his usual self as he smilingly got on the bus on his own steam and did not appear to have any bruises.
