A few fans had to be evicted from the stadium after clashes broke out between the fans of Pakistan and Afghanistan during their ongoing World Cup match at Headingly in Leeds today.
According to report by ESPNcricinfo, security personnel had to intervene after clashes broke out between the two sets of fans in the Carnegie Pavilion Stand after just an hour into the match. It was also reported that the clashes outside the stadium were much uglier as there steel barricades were used as weapons. Few of the journalists, who were trying to film the scenes were also assaulted.
Few of them were ejected from stadium by security, many invaded the stadium jumping the wall, occupying seats without tickets. Ugly scenes! Anti sportsmanship by Afghan fans. Disappointing. https://t.co/XKftrpLqDh; Faizan Lakhani (@faizanlakhani) June 29, 2019
