‘Shakib doing everything he could have done’

Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said that his main man Shakib Al Hasan has been doing everything he can to help the Tigers in the ongoing World Cup in England.

With the World Cup almost nearing its climax, Bangladesh are still in contention for the semifinal spot and the Tigers could not but thank Shakib who has been in exquisite form throughout the tournament to see the Tigers in this position. The number one all-rounder proved his mettle throughout the tournament as he currently remains third in the top run-getters' list with 476 runs to his name at a staggering 95.20 average in the World Cup.

While Shakib has been majestic with the bat, he has also proved his worth both in bowling and fielding. He has so far scalped 10 wickets in the mega event. Mashrafe has hailed the ace allrounder as his 'best performer' ahead of Tigers' must-win game against India at Edgbaston in Birmingham tomorrow.

"Shakib, I think, he's been doing whatever he can do. I mean, he's been doing everything on his batting, on his fielding, on his bowling. He's done everything that he could have done. To be honest, he's been the best performer, to me, and for my team I think he's been the best performer in this World Cup," said Mashrafe to reporters during a press conference in Birmingham today.

Mashrafe, who sounded like he had been heavily banking on the all-round abilities of Shakib, also hoped that the 32-year old keep on performing just the way he has been in the upcoming two group stage matches against India and Pakistan.

"Still two matches left. We're asking that hopefully he'll keep doing whatever he has done and finish on a good note."
