India opt to bat, no Mahmudullah for the Tigers

India have won the toss and elected to bowl first against Bangladesh at Birmingham. The big news from the toss as far as the Tigers are concerned is that Mahmudullah Riyad has not recovered from his injury and will be replaced by Sabbir Rahman.

No Mehedi Miraz too as Rubel Hossain has been included. Just the two changes but pretty big ones.

It is a do-or-die scenario for the Tigers as they face India at Edgbaston today. The signs were good that Mahmudullah Riyad, suffering from a Grade 1 Tear will likely be able to play the match. Skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza was however cautious about his chances while speaking to the media ahead of today's game.

"The physio [Thihan Chandramohan] has not yet given a final call, so there is some time on that front," said Mashrafe, who has also been struggling with a hamstring tear.

Mashrafe – struggling for wickets, has nonetheless scalped 23 wickets -- the most by any player among the two sides -- in the 19 matches he played against India.  If there was a time the Tigers would love to see their skipper back in song with the ball, this is it.

The Tigers will also be hoping that ace pacer Mustafizur Rahman has a big impact on this match. The pitch at Edgbaston was conducive to slower deliveries during the India vs England game and the Fizz cutters might do the magic. Vijay Shankar was meanwhile ruled out of the World Cup for India due to a broken toe.
