Cox's Bazar Community Patrol Group member dies in elephant attack
A member of the Community Patrol Group (CPG) was killed by an elephant this morning in Cox's Bazar's Chakaria upazila.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ali (40), a resident of Fasiakhali union, said Rafiqul Islam Chowdhury, divisional forest officer of Wildlife Nature Conservation Division, Chattogram.
He said that an elephant went into Chakaria's Bethua Bazar from the nearby forest. A CPG team rushed to the scene to make it move to safety.
In the process, as the elephant chased Mohammad Ali, he fell to the ground and was trampled by the animal. He died on the spot, the forest officer added.
