Electricity restored at 4 Comilla University halls after 3 days
Electricity connection was restored at four halls of Comilla University early today after three days following a sit-in by students in front of the vice chancellor's house.
The power outage was caused by a technical glitch at the substation of the university, Zakir Hossain, executive engineer of the university's electrical department, said adding that for some reason the substation cannot take the load.
The authorities started supplying power temporarily to the halls pulling an alternative line from the ground flood, the engineer said.
Because of the protest, the university authorities have connected the electricity in an alternative way, our Cumilla correspondent quoted some students.
The agitating students said there was usually not much load shedding at the university, but the problem has been at its peak over the past week.
Although, the sit-in has been postponed for the time being, they will talk to the VC tomorrow (March 20) on some of their other demands.
Earlier, the registrar of the university Prof Md Abu Taher said, "I have contacted the electrical department several times and asked them for an alternative arrangement. If necessary, If necessary, we will seek help from PDB immediately."
