Dhaka College students remain in hostels as decision revoked
Dhaka College students did not comply with the authorities' decision which asked the students to leave hostels by 5pm today following the clash between students and traders in Dhaka's New Market area.
Most of the students were staying in the hostel till 9 pm tonight while shop owners and employees were also staying in front of New Market, reports our Dhaka University correspondent.
Talking to this correspondent, Humayun, a student of Dhaka College, said the decision taken by the college authorities to let the students leave the hostel is absolutely unreasonable. "Rejecting this decision, we will stay in the hostel."
Dhaka College Principal ATM Moinul Hossain told The Daily Star that the decision which was taken regarding the closure of the hostels will remain in force. But, the instructions to leave the hostel by 5 pm today have been changed and the students have been asked to leave the hostel by tomorrow.
The students claimed all of them are in the hostels but the principal said that those who have financial problems, and are not able to leave the hostel at the moment, are still in the hostels, added our correspondent.
