No unrest as JCD, BCL welcome DU admission seekers on campus
Activists and leaders of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal held a peaceful programme on Dhaka University campus during today's admission test.
They welcomed the admission seekers with flowers and pens in front of the central Shaheed Minar around noon, reports our university correspondent.
About two-hundred JCD activists gathered there to greet the admission seekers with permission of the DU authorities.
Nasir Uddin Nasir, joint-convener of DU-1 unit of JCD, said that they had taken permission from the university proctor to hold the programme.
Police at first barred them from holding it today. But after discussion with the law enforcers, they let JCD carry out the event.
JCD's DU unit convener Aktar Hossain said, "It's great to greet the students with flowers and pens".
Meanwhile, the leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League also greeted students and their parents with flowers, water, and pens.
However, there was no report of violence during today's events by the opposing student political parties.
On May 24, BCL activists attacked supporters of JCD near DU leaving 30 members of the BNP's student wing injured.
On June 1, 2022, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, organising president of the BCL, instructed its activists to carry out peaceful programmes.
