England roll over Tigers to seal series 

England produced a dominating display in the second ODI against Bangladesh to beat the Tigers by 132 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday.

The series win saw England hand Bangladesh their first series loss at home since 2016.

After posting a challenging 326 in the first innings, Jos Buttler's side bundled out the Tigers for 194.

Left-arm seamer Sam Curran and leg-spinner Adil Rashid took four wickets each, while Moeen Ali chipped in with one.

Shakib Al Hasan top-scored with 58 runs and stitched a 79-run stand with Tamim Iqbal, who scored 35.

Riding on Jason Roy's 12th ODI century and a fifty from skipper Jos Buttler, England managed to dominate the bowlers in the middle overs and late surges from Moeen Ali and Sam Curran ensured their total went past 300.

Roy smashed 18 fours and a solitary six for his 124-ball 132, while Buttler's 64-ball 76 featured five fours and two sixes.

Moeen and Curran took charge of late fireworks, with the former two sixes and three fours in his 35-ball 42, while Curran's three sixes and two fours saw him remain unbeaten on a 19-ball 33.

In reply, Bangladesh got off to the worst possible start as they lost three wickets for just nine runs indie the first three overs of the innings. Liton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto, and Mushfiqur Rahim were undone by Curran's exploits with the new ball.

Liton Das was the first to go for a golden duck in the fourth delivery of the innings when he tried to drive loosely a full-length delivery outside off-stump. The right-handed batter failed to keep it down and managed to pick out Jason Roy at backward-point.

Number three Najmul Hossain Shanto didn't bother the scorers either as went back to the pavilion for a first-ball duck as well nicking one to the keeper. 

Curran managed an outswinger shaping away from the batter but Shanto's hard hands couldn't help but go for a poke while attempting to block.

The third wicket to go was Mushfiqur Rahim whose batting woes continued. He tried to punch a good-length delivery that held its line but the extra bounce meant the batter could only concede a faint edge that was confirmed by a DRS review.

But Shakib and Tamim kept hopes alive for the Tigers. The duo steadied in what appeared to be a sinking ship at the dock with a 79–run stand at the end of the 21st over before Tamim looked to up the ante and tried to loft Moeen Ali over extra-cover. The left-handed batter failed to make enough contact and was caught in the deep by James Vince for a 65-ball 35, while Shakib remained unbeaten on a 54-ball 42 as the Tigers were four down for 89 runs at the end of 21 overs.

Shakib then got dismissed shortly after reaching his 51st ODI fifty to leave Tigers in dire straights at 122 for five at the end of the 28th over. He hit five fours for his 69-ball 58 but was undone by leg-spinner Adil Rashid. The left-handed batter made room to play it over extra-cover but mistimed his shot and gave away a tame floating catch at short mid-off.

Bangladesh lost any hopes they had left of getting close to England's 326 with the dismissal of the last recognised batter Mahmudullah Riyad in the 38th over leaving the Tigers seven down for 167.

Mahmudullah hit three fours for his 49-ball 32 before edging a sharp turning delivery to slip off leg-spinner Adil Rashid in the 38th over.

Before that, Afif Hossain showed signs of life with a 33-ball 23 but he too was undone by Rashid. The left-handed batter was caught in two minds while trying to negotiate a flighted leg-break outside off-stump. In the end, he could only manage to fend his bat toward the ball conceding a faint edge.

Taskin Ahmed managed a run-a-ball 21 and it could only work to reduce the deficit as the Tigers lost their first series at home since 2016.
