Biman starts giving line training to foreign pilots
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has started a training programme for foreign pilots which will help the national flag carrier to earn foreign currency.
The training is being given through modern Boeing Dreamliner 787 aircraft, Biman said in a press release today.
According to Biman sources, the programme will start with the training of three foreign pilots and gradually the number will increase to 12.
Biman authorities said the line training to foreign pilots is not only the first in country's history, but also a first in the aviation history of South Asia.
The training programme started today with a pilot of a Mongolian airlines on Dhaka-Sylhet-London route.
Biman sources said a total of twelve pilots of Mongolian state airlines will receive training on Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Three of them will receive it in the first batch.
Necessary approval has been taken from the Civil Aviation Authority (CABA) of Bangladesh in this regard, they added.
Shafiul Azim, managing director and chief executive officer of Biman, said that foreign airlines have confidence in Biman.
Biman's safety standards and its ability to provide quality training have attracted the foreign airlines to take flight training with us. We have plans to expand the scope of this training in the future, he added.
Several Biman officials told The Daily Star that Biman would earn foreign currency by giving training to foreign pilots. Besides, it will also help increase image of Biman abroad.
