BRSS holds Rabindra Sangeet Festival
Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstha (BRSS) held a two-day Rabindra Sangeet Festival at Nandan Mancha of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on March 11-12.
The festival was inaugurated on Friday evening with eminent litterateur Syed Manzoorul Islam as chief guest. Fahim Hossain Chowdhury, general secretary of BRSS delivered the welcome address.
Following a brief inauguration ceremony, the performance of the first night began. A host of popular Tagore artistes from Kolkata and Dhaka shared the stage to present the audience with an evening of blissful melodies.
Adrita Anwar set off the musical soiree with “Notun Kore Pabo Boley” which was followed by Arifur Rahman Timun's “Dujone Dekha Holo”.
Then Barnali Biswas presented “Amar Hiyar Majhe”, followed by Mejbaul Alam Manju's “Choitro Pobone Mon Chittomone”.
Laila Afroze then recited from Tagore's “Geetanjali”.
Popular Indian singer Madhurima Dutta Choudhury came on the stage next to present “Ei Je Tomar Premo Ogo”. This was followed by “O Amar Chaand er Alo”, and “Ami Tomar Songe Bedhechhi Amar Pran” on a melodious note.
Bangladeshi artistes Rana Kumar Sinha, Majibul Kaiyum and Aklima Khatun Hiya presented one Tagore song each before leaving the stage for Indian singer Probuddha Raha.
Raha, a prominent Tagore singer, began his performance by praising Bangladeshi artistes and audience for promoting Rabindra Sangeet. He sang Tagore's popular numbers “Jete Jete Ekla Pothe”, “Amaro Porano Jaha Chaye”, “Na Chahile Jare Pawa Jaye”, and “Ei Kothati Mone Rekho”.
Fahim Hossain Chowdhury came next on the stage with Tagore's Puja parjaya song “Ar Koto Durey Achhe She Anandadham”.
The last half an hour was reserved for celebrated Indian singer Srikanta Acharya. Srikanta began his performance with a monsoon song “Emono Diney Tare Bola Jay” which was followed by “Dekha Pelem Phalguney”.
Srikanto mesmerized the audience with “Boro Asha Kore Eshechhi” and “Tomay Gaan Shonabo”, and wrapped up his performance with “Jokhon Porbe Na Mor Payer Chinho”.
