Hope ton hands victory to Windies in close match

West Indies level series 1-1 after Shai Hope's terrific 146-run-knock -- the batsman's career-best knock -- gave the West Indies a four-wicket victory in a tight match.

Bangladesh came back into the game after four quick wickets and it looked they might hold the West Indies off from reaching the target of 256. Shai Hope mastered a tremendous knock under pressure and he continued on after his ton, hitting both Rubel Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman for boundaries late in the game to hand a brilliant victory to the visitors. Tigers will perhaps ponder what might have happened if the dropped chances did not go begging. 

Hope's 144-ball 146, laced with 12 fours and three sixes proved to be the difference between the sides in the end as Windies won with four wickets and 2 balls to spare.

Shai Hope and Marlon Samuels have starred in a strong fifty-run partnership for the third-wicket as West Indies need a further 136 runs for victory. The duo have picked up their runs pretty quickly with Shai Hope going strong.

Shai Hope completes his half century off 67 deliveries while the Tigers were able to slow the run-rate down following the wicket of Bravo. Hope's innings is laced with three fours and two sixes.

Rubel Hossain castles Darren Bravo, who was looking good on 27 as West Indies lost their second wicket. The 65-run partnership was broken by a moderately slow delivery from Rubel which hit the left-hander's leg-stump as he was looking to tuck it away.

Two sixes in the fifth over off Mashrafe Bin Mortaza signalled that a change of gear has taken place as Windies stay on course towards their required target of 256. 13 runs came off the 15th over as the run-rate climbed to 4.13.

Darren Bravo and Shai Hope have kept the runs ticking amidst tight bowling from the spinners. Hope hit the first six of the innings when Mustafizur Rahman was brought into the attack. Tigers have been able to keep the runs in check so far as Windies reached 37 for the loss of 1 wicket after 10 overs.

Bangladesh posted 255 for the loss of seven wickets against West Indies in the second ODI at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Shakib Al Hasan's 62-ball 65 was the highlight of the innings while Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim also struck fifties.

Bangladesh scored 64 runs fior the loss of four wickets in the last 10 overs as Mehedi Miraz hit and missed quite a few deliveries.

Mahmudullah Riyad falls after a wild slog across the line off the bowling of Windies captain Rovman Powell. The ball took the leading edge and the man at cover took the catch as Bangladesh lost their fourth wicket. Soumya Sarkar is the new batsman at the crease.

Good news for Bangladesh as Liton Das has returned after an X-ray and there was no fracture. He will be able to bat if the pain is managed.

Mushy and Tamim going strong

Bangladesh have done fantastically well since the wicket of Imrul Kayes. If Tamim Iqbal was the aggressor before, Mushfiqur Rahim followed suit soon after, hitting Roston Chase for back-to-back fours as Bangladesh reach 88 for 1 after 15 overs.

Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim star in a fifty partnership off just 51 deliveries. The duo have looked immense after Bangladesh's loss of Liton Das to injury and Imrul Kayes falling for a duck. Tamim has been the aggressor, taking full advantage of the Powerplay, hitting Keemo Paul for a six off a free-hit over long on before a straight drive off the next delivery went for four.

Bangladesh take on WI in big five's 100th match together

Bangladesh will be looking to clinch the ODI series by winning the second ODI today against the West Indies in a match that will take Bangladesh' current captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza level with Habibul Bashar as having led the team in the most ODIs.

The match will also mark the 100th international game that Bangladesh's Big five of Mashrafe, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad have played together. The 99 matches that the five pillars of Bangladesh have played together so far in comprise of 1 Test, 69 ODIs and 29 T20s.
