BCB in talks with Jonty Rhodes
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is in talks with legendary South Africa player Jonty Rhodes for a short-term fielding consultant position, BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon said in a press conference today.
Jonty Rhodes, who played in the 1990s and early 2000s is known as one of the greatest fielders of all time.
"We have contacted him and he has shown interest in the position," said Papon. "We are currently in talks with him."
The deal is very much still in the initial stages, with it not yet being known exactly how long his coaching stint will be if he does accept the position. It was learnt that the stint may be anything between a week and a month.
This development comes in the aftermath of the a Tigers' dismal tour of New Zealand, which ended with a nine-wicket loss in the second Test on Monday, taking the streak of matches lost on tour to eight out of eight played across three formats. Bangladesh's catching was especially poor, with the Tigers dropping five chances in New Zealand's first innings in Chistchurch, the venue for the second Test.
