Bangladesh batsman Soumya Sarkar has suffered a finger injury during the second T20 International against the West Indies in St. Vincent today, which may keep him out of action for around three weeks, according to a press release from Bangladesh Cricket Board.

Sarkar injured his right index finger while attempting a catch in the seventh over of the West Indies innings and did not take further part in the match.

The press release quoted national team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan as saying, "Soumya sustained a cut injury on his right index finger while fielding, which required five stitches. An X-ray was conducted after the match, revealing a subluxation in the affected area. His recovery may take about three to four weeks."

While Bangladesh have already sealed the three-match T20I series against the West Indies, they will miss the left-hand batter in the final game of the series two days later which will wrap up the calendar year for the Tigers.

Soumya was in good form with the bat of late, having scored 43 in the first match following a good show in the ODI series. He was run out for 11 in the second T20I.

Soumya's injury will be a blow to Bangladesh Premier League champions Fortune Barishal, who will surely miss out on the services of the explosive batter in the early part of the BPL, which begins on December 30.
