Dravid struggles and settles on 'glamorous' to describe Pak attack
India coach Rahul Dravid was thrown a curveball in the press conference on Saturday when it was asked whether it was a worrying sign that Pakistan pacers put in a better effort with the ball in the first game between the two sides in this tournament than India pacers. Dravid smiled knowingly to the question.
India meet Pakistan in the Super Four stage of the 2022 Asia Cup on Sunday at Dubai International Cricket Stadium and the pacers from either side would play a big role. Dravid was not having any of that about his side's pacers not doing as well as Pakistan pacers.
"Ok, their bowlers bowled well and ofcourse they are a good bowling side but we also did well to restrict them to 147. Yes, I agree that the numbers might say someone has bowled at 145 and someone has bowled at 147 but end of the day, bowling analysis is the most important thing. Whether you are bowling at 145, 135 or 125, getting swing or not getting swing, you are judged by the results you produce. Bowling analysis of our fast bowlers was also pretty good. Not to disrespect their bowling but I am confident we have a good bowling attack as well that produces results," he said.
At this point, the former India batsman, known as 'the wall' struggled to find the right words to describe the India pace attack in comparison to Pakistan attack.
"It [India attack] might not be as …," Dravid paused to find the right word. When it was suggested to him if the right word was 'quick' or 'exuberant', he laughed and said, 'no the word always coming out of my mind but I can't use it'.
"It's a little four-letter word and starts with s but it's ok," he laughed while saying.
"Look, it [India attack] might not be as glamorous but it produces results," Dravid said.
Although Dravid could not say the right word, as he felt was it inappropriate for the press conference, he would be hoping his pacers do something similar to what they did in the first game when they bundled Pakistan our for 147.
