BCL factions clash at CU: 2 halls raided, local weapons seized
Local weapons were seized during a raid at two residential halls of Chittagong University (CU) early today, hours after a clash between two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the university unit on the campus.
CU Proctor (acting) Rabiul Hasan Bhuiyan said that the university authorities raided Shah Amanat and Shaheed Suhrawardy halls around 12:30am, reports our university correspondent.
During the raid, they recovered five machetes, three knives, 18 iron rods, and couple of locally-made sharp weapons, some glass bottles, two slingshots, seven cricket stumps from the two halls, the proctor said.
Rabiul Hasan Bhuiyan further said, "None was arrested as the residents of the halls were not present during the drive."
Two BCL factions clashed on the campus around 7:30pm yesterday.
