DU 1st-year student ‘tortured’ by BCL activist
A first-year student of Dhaka University has been allegedly tortured by an activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League unit of Sir AF Rahman Hall.
A written complaint was submitted in this regard to Prof Saiful Islam, provost of the hall last night around 8:30 pm, reports our DU correspondent.
The accused is Rokonuzzaman alias Rokon, a student of the Political Science department of the university's 2019-20 academic year.
The victim, a student of first year, in his complaint stated that Rokon slapped him on February 15 in the guestroom of Sir AF Rahman Hall.
The complainant also mentioned that he was threatened to not make any complaint to the hall authority or would face a tougher situation.
The hall authority formed a probe body over the matter, Provost Prof Saiful Islam said.
"We have already formed a probe body to investigate the allegation. If we get any proof we will take proper action as per our rules," he said.
"We don't tolerate aggression. We have asked the hall authority to take action against the accused if they get any proof," said Munem Shahriar Moon, general secretary of Sir AF Rahman Hall Chhatra League unit.
