Leaked audio clips on recruitment at CU: Embarrassed, victim of conspiracy, claims VC
Addressing the recently leaked five phone conversations related to the recruitments of teachers, officers, and employees using a huge sum of money, the Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University Prof Shirin Akhtar has said she was "embarrassed" by the incident.
The VC, at a press conference today, said, "Currently, there are 900 teachers at the university. I had earlier made a few appointments but no questions were raised. I am embarrassed by the incident (leaked audio clips). Conspiracies are being hatched against me and the state. We will find the culprits and bring them to book. We want an investigation through the ACC (Anti-Corruption Commission)."
The vice-chancellor said this at a press conference held this afternoon at CU Fine Arts Institute at city's Mehedibag area, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent quoting CU Registrar (acting) Prof SM Monirul Hasan.
Earlier, a syndicate meeting was held at the university where a recruitment board formed to appoint teachers at the Department of Persian Language and Literature was cancelled after the leaked conversation came to light, said the registrar.
Apart from this, the university administration has issued show-cause notices to the vice-chancellor's Personal Assistant Khaled Misbahul Mokar Rabin and Ahmed Hossain, a staffer of CU Accounts and Controller department, and sought their explanation within two days, he said.
Khaled Misbahul was also transferred to another department, the registrar added.
