RU BCL leader ‘kicks student out of hall’
A Chhatra League leader of Rajshahi University (RU) allegedly kicked a resident student out his dormitory this morning.
Akib Javed, a second-year student of Statistics department, had been staying in room number 129 at Sher-E-Bangla Hall of the university since March this year, reports our RU correspondent.
Talking to the correspondent over phone, Akib Javed said Mostafizur Rahman alias Ratul, president of the hall unit of Chhatra League had abused him and asked him to leave the hall when he started staying in the room since March this year.
He said last night, Ratul along with 7-8 of his followers came to his room and again warned him – telling him to leave the room by this morning.
"As I did not do so, a group of BCL leaders led by Ratul came over and drove me out of the room around 9am," said Akib.
Later, the student made a complaint to the hall's Provost Habibur Rahman verbally in this regard.
While talking to journalists, BCL leader Ratul said as there are students senior to Akib, his seat was given to a senior student.
When asked if he has the authorisation to do so, Ratul replied, "Many students come to us for seats in halls. We try to help them."
Hall provost Habibur Rahman told this correspondent that he has already talked to the student. He will take necessary measures in this regard.
