Clash between Dhaka College-TTC students: Situation under control
The clash between the students of Dhaka and Teachers Training College was brought under control tonight by police.
The situation was brought under control at 10:30pm, reports our DU correspondent quoting Gias Uddin, inspector of New Market Police Station.
Dhaka College students claimed that 10 of their fellow students were injured in cocktail explosions detonated by TTC students.
Inspector Bacchu Miah, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital said seven students took treatment from the emergency department of the hospital..
They are Kayesh (24), Jashim Uddin (28), Sujan (28), Khokan (28), Rubel (26), Shihab (26) and Mamun.
Meanwhile, public transport service which was stopped following the clash resumed.
Earlier, around 500 Dhaka College students stormed the main entrance of the TTC this evening after its students beat three of their classmates.
Dhaka College students took positions in front of the TTC with sticks and sharp weapons and pelted stones at the TTC students.
Three Dhaka College students were beaten by TTC students earlier this afternoon over a trivial matter, said a Dhaka College student wishing to be anonymous.
As words spread, Dhaka College students flocked to the front entrance of the TTC and hurled brickbats, eyewitnesses said.
According to authorities, TTC students took up positions within their campus and detonated cocktails.
The situation caused panic among those who were passing through the area.
Passengers who were returning home after completing office complained that they were suffering due to sudden stoppage of public transport.
