51-year-old man arrested for sexually abusing 5-year-old

Police today arrested a man on charge of sexually abusing a five-year-old girl in the capital's Kafrul area.

The arrestee is Mohir Uddin, 51, a mason by profession and the next-door neighbour of the victim.

Police sent the child to a one-stop crisis centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical tests after the victim's family filed a case with Kafrul Police Station this morning.

Sub-inspector Abdul Jalil of Kafrul Police Station said the victim and the accused lived in adjacent tin-shed rooms in Ibrahimpur.

When the victim's parents were busy with work yesterday morning, Mohir lured the girl to his room with promises of chocolates and abused her.

The family came to know of the incident last night and lodged a case afterwards, the police oficial added.
