Sadarang's Classical Music Conference begins today

The 19th National Classical Music Conference 2016 begins today at Chittagong District Shilpakala Academy auditorium at 6pm. Organised by Sadarang Uchchanga Sangeet Parishad Bangladesh, the two-day conference will be inaugurated by Abul Khair, chairman of Bengal Foundation. Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will attend the opening ceremony as chief guest, while Chittagong Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md. Abdul Jalil Mondal will be present as special guest at the inauguration ceremony. The opening day's musical performance will start at 6:30pm and continue till 11pm.

A discussion on the title “Sushtha Sangskriti, Porishilito Mon” will take place on January 14. Eminent theatre personality Aly Zaker will be present as chief guest and main discussant. Mezbah Uddin, Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong, will inaugurate the second night of the conference on January 14. 

Artistes from all over Bangladesh and Kolkata, India will perform both vocal and instrumental music. Sitarist Satyajit Chakrabarty (Chittagong); vocalists -- Dr. Asit Roy (Rajshahi), Pradeep Banerjee (Kolkata),  Suchisree Ray (Kolkata), Malabika Das (Chittagong), Lipu Das (Chittagong), Moumita Haque Sejuti (Dhaka) and Priyanka Gope (Dhaka); sarodiya Rajrupa Chowdhury (Dhaka); santoor artist Salauddin Santanu (Dhaka); violinists Indradeep Ghosh (Kolkata) and Shanto Ahmed (Narayanganj); tabla artistes--Sarit Das (Delhi), Sabuj Ahmed (Narayanganj), Iftekhar Alam (Dhaka), Subhendu Das (Kolkata), Shruti Pathak Das (Kolkata), Palash Dev (Chittagong) and Rajib Chakrabarty (Chittagong); flautist Kamrul Ahmed (Narayanganj) and Harmonium artistes Debashish Adhikary (Kolkata) and Promit Barua (Chittagong) will perform and accompany featured soloists at the conference.
