At least four Bangladeshi migrant workers were allegedly injured in a clash between two groups of Bangladeshi workers in Saudi Arabia's Riyadh on Saturday evening local time.

Officials of the Bangladesh embassy in Riyadh could not immediately tell the names and other details of the injured.

One official today said the injured workers were undergoing treatment at a local hospital in Riyadh. The condition of two to three workers was critical, he said.

Wishing anonymity, the official said the area, Hara, where the incident took place, is home to many Bangladeshi migrant workers who went to the Kingdom mainly on "free visas".

About a hundred workers were in each group when the clash took place. Some of them were seen wielding iron rods, metal pipes and sharp metal weapons, the official said, referring to a video clip of the incident.

He said local police was investigating the incident and that they were yet to find out what triggered the clash.

The reason would be known once Saudi police finished the investigation, he added.
