'BCL men' grab public toilet

After occupying a public toilet, structures are being constructed allegedly by two Chhatra League leaders in Jagannathpur municipality of Sunamganj.

The two are Touha Chowdhury, joint secretary of BCL Jagannathpur upazila unit, and Sajib Roy, publication secretary of the BCL unit.

While visiting the spot on Wednesday afternoon, this correspondent found that structures were set up in front of the toilet to build some business establishments.

According to sources at Jagannathpur municipality, the toilet was built for traders a few years ago. All of a sudden on Wednesday morning, traders saw some structures there.

Zahir Uddin, general secretary of Jagannathpur Bazar management committee, alleged that the BCL leaders set up the structures at night. They submitted a written complaint against the two to the Jagannathpur upazila nirbahi officer, he said.

Abdul Monaf, mayor of Jagannathpur municipality, confirmed the incident of constructing structures.

Contacted, Touha Chowdhury denied his involvement in the incident.

But this correspondent could not reach Sajib for comments.

Masum Billah, Jagannathpur UNO, said he heard about the incident. They would investigate the incident and take action against the persons responsible for the incident, he added.
