Border Firing: Myanmar ambassador summoned

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday summoned Myanmar Ambassador to Bangladesh Lwin Oo and strongly protested Myanmar's Border Guard Police firing multiple rounds towards Bangladesh territory.

Lwin Oo was summoned at the offices of the ministry's Director General of South East Asia Wing Delwar Hossain at 3:30pm where Dhaka handed over a strongly worded protest note demanding actions against the Myanmar force personnel involved in the incident.

Myanmar BGP personnel opened fire towards Bangladesh territory on November 4 injuring two young boys -- a Bangladesh national and a Rohingya person of Myanmar, who was living in a Cox's Bazar refugee camp.

However, sources said the Myanmar side denied that the incident took place.
