Sust teachers demand VC's resignation on grounds of misbehaviour

Teachers of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) under the banner of "Teachers' Parishad" demanded resignation of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Md Aminul Haque Bhuyan by Sunday alleging that the VC misbehaved with some teachers.

Sources said several teachers, including environment and geography department Dean Sarif Mahmud Soraf Uddin and physics department Dean Dr Syed Badiuzzaman Faruque, met with the VC on Monday regarding distribution of classrooms among the departments.

The teachers claimed the VC misbehaved with them in the meeting.      

Prof Syed Shamsul Alom, one of the members of the parishad, said if the VC does not resign by Sunday, the teachers would resign on Monday.

Contacted, VC Prof Md Aminul said on Monday his wife was sick so he left the meeting early, which the teachers interpreted as misbehaviour.
