I would’ve been more satisfied if we won the one-day series 2-0: Mashrafe Mortaza

Bangladesh ODI skipper Mashrafe Mortaza expressed that he would have been more satisfied had his team won the one-day series 2-0 against Sri Lanka after the Tigers arrived home from a month-long series today.

“It was a big disappointment that we couldn’t win the series 2-0. I would have been more satisfied had we won the third match. It was our chance to win a series away from home,” Mashrafe said. Bangladesh won the first match at Dambulla by 90 runs. The second ODI was abandoned and they lost the last match by 70 runs at Colombo.

Mashrafe, who announced his retirement from T20I earlier was impressed by the fact that Bangladesh were improving in the shorter format of the game, and was optimistic about the future with the new bunch of players already marking a mark for themselves in the international arena.

Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan was content to the point that Tigers won in all three formats, and spoke highly about the newcomers who have responded brilliantly to the call of duty during the demanding Sri Lanka tour.

Tigers returned after a grueling series of two Tests, three ODIs and two T20Is. In all three formats, the series was tied 1-1 in the end. Mashrafe Mortaza, Bangladesh’s inspirational skipper who announced his retirement from T20Is earlier was given a perfect farewell with a 45-run win over Sri Lanka in the second Twenty20 international in Colombo yesterday.
