Grameenphone makes Tk 1,193 crore profit in second quarter

Grameenphone registered 30 per cent year-on-year higher profit in the second quarter ending on June 30 this year, the largest mobile phone operator said today.

Grameenphone logged Tk 1,193 crore profit after tax in April-June period of 2023 from Tk 920 crore a year ago.

Earnings per share (EPS) of the mobile phone operator grew to Tk 8.84 for the second quarter from Tk 6.82 a year ago.

Shares of Grameenphone remained unchanged at Tk 284.60 at the Dhaka Stock Exchange as of 11.38 am.

The company credited the rise in the EPS to the higher net profit after tax.

Grameenphone's revenue grew 6 per cent to Tk 4,000 crore in the second quarter.

With the second quarter earnings, overall profit of the mobile phone operator rose 14 per cent to Tk 1,973 crore in January to June period of 2023.

Its EPS increased to Tk 14.62 for January-June against Tk 12.82 the same period a year ago.

Total revenue of Grameenphone increased to Tk 7,735 crore in the first half of the year, up nearly 3 per cent year-on-year.
