Qatar keen to invest for setting up LNG terminal in Bangladesh

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said Qatar government is keen to invest in Bangladesh for setting up land-based Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal in Patuakhali.

Nasrul Hamid came up with the development after holding a meeting with a delegation of Qatar at the Secretariat in Dhaka this morning.

State Minister for Energy Affairs Saad Sherida Al-Kaab is leading the Qatar delegation.

At a briefing, the minister also said a total of 12 countries including Qatar have already participated in the tender floated for the construction of the LNG terminal located near Payra seaport in Patuakhali.      

Qatar minister also expressed his government interest for the investment in the sector of gas exploration and production, and construction of separate terminals at the sea ports.
