31 Facebook pages deactivated for spreading rumours on stockmarket

Thirty-one Facebook pages have been deactivated for their alleged involvement in spreading rumours on the stock market, according to a disclosure made by Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC).
The stockmarket regulator made the disclosure after a meeting with Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission.
The meeting was organised by the BSEC to stop rumours on the market.
The Facebook pages were deactivated as per the recommendations of an investigation team that was formed in May this year.
The commission has been working on developing the stockmarket, but the rumours hampered the momentum, said Shaikh Shamsuddin Ahmed, commissioner of the BSEC.
"So, we are trying to solve this problem. Some other pages are also in our radar."
"We will sit with the BTRC once in three months to take measures to curb spread of the rumours," he added.
