The Bangladesh Bank today asked banks, the providers of mobile financial services and payment services to take effective measures to help the flood-hit people do financial transactions easily.

People are now failing to settle transactions as the ongoing flood has submerged the bank branches, automated teller machine booths, agent banking outlets and MFS agent points.

So, the banks, MFS providers and payment service providers will have to find alternative ways to make their payment systems effective in the flood affected districts, including Sylhet, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Kishoreganj, Netrokona, Kurigram and Rangpur, according to a central bank notice issued today.

A Bangladesh Bank official said the banking regulator sat in a meeting with banks, MFS providers and PSPs today and asked them to open their service booths in the shelter centres in the flood-hit zones.
