The inaugural programme of 50 industrial units at economic zones across the country has been postponed for the inclement weather due to the Cyclone Sitrang.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was scheduled to inaugurate the industrial units on October 26 to mark the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh's independence.

On the same day, the premier was also expected to lay the foundation stone of 29 industrial units across nine economic zones, which have so far received investments of $610 million and are in the process of receiving $1.9 billion more.

The new date for the inauguration programme will be announced later, Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (Beza) said in a press release today.
