Which were October’s top remittance receiving banks?

Bangladeshis living abroad sent home $1.52 billion in October through different banks in the country.

But do we know which were the top remittance receiving banks in Bangladesh for the month?

The largest part of the remittance, $1.19 billion, came through private commercial banks, according to Bangladesh Bank data.

Islami Bank Bangladesh was the highest remittance receiver among all category of banks. Expatriate Bangladeshis remitted over $358 million through the local private bank.

The next four private commercial banks were: Dutch-Bangla Bank $86.56 million, Al-Arafah Islami Bank $84.85 million, Mutual Trust Bank $66.25 million and Trust Bank $58.12 million.

The country's six state-owned commercial banks brought in $307.22 million in the just concluded month and the highest amount of remittance, $106.41 million, came through Agrani.

Here, Sonali and Rupali stood second and third consecutively with $89.44 million and $67.22 million.

Bangladesh Krishi Bank was the only specialised bank of the two of its kind to channel $25.03 million to the country.

The Bangladesh chapter of the British multinational bank Standard Chartered received $4.92 million out of the $7.12 million remitted through the country's foreign commercial banks.
