Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today designated some spots on different streets for parking of more than 2700 cars temporarily in the capital.

Traffic department of DMP has taken the initiatives named ‘On-Street Car Parking’ in an aim to reduce the traffic congestion in the city and also to facilitate car parking of city dwellers, according to a report published on news portal of DMP.

Vehicles will be parked on single lane of one side or both sides of different roads, it added.

A committee has already been formed in this regard. After fixing parking charge, the DNCC would go for tender bid, police said.

Mir Rezaul Alam, additional commissioner (traffic) of DMP, told The Daily Star that they have launched the parking system on an experimental basis.

DMP has already informed both the city corporations in this regard, he added.
